DECORATIVE ARTS & COLLECTABLES
Although including consignments from more than one hundred other vendors, our first International Decorative Arts & Collectable auction for 2023 is remarkable for the number “Mini-auctions” it contains.
We are particularly pleased to be able to offer you two fine collections of porcelain and ceramics. The first, Lots 89 – 121, is consigned by the family of a Melbourne collector, and the second, Lots 122 – 337, consigned by the family of a collector from Sydney. Together with consignments from other vendors, this section of more than 300 items is full of pieces of great beauty and delicacy.
Lots 903 – 935 present the Dr Douglas Frew Waterhouse collection of antique and vintage pewter. With many lots containing multiple items, this is a rare opportunity for collectors to select from a substantial number of pieces.
The Baker-Finch collection of religious icons and artefacts, Lots 936 – 991, is a magnificent range of heavenly pieces! This is a wonderful and extremely diverse collection including the beautiful St. George & the Dragon, Lot 937, featured on our front cover, as well as the remarkable illustrated vellum manuscript, “The Miracles of Mary” from Ethiopia, Lot 955.
A further selection of Asian artefacts and statues from the Judith Heaven and the late Barrie Heaven collection feature at Lots 1006 – 1018. Those quite monumental pieces are followed by Lots 1019 – 1084, a range of Asian ceramics, carvings, artworks and ornaments from a private Melbourne collection.
And finally, the Jason Sprague collection of books, Lots 1303a – 1317, will be of interest to those of you looking for superb bindings, as well as interesting reading matter.
Of course, with more than 1500 lots for you to look at, there’s plenty more to consider, so we hope you enjoy leafing through the following pages of the flip-book or you can ignore that completely and just go straight to the online catalogue and start bidding!
We look forward to welcoming those of you who can visit us in person during the viewing days.
Best of luck with your bidding
