From the early cricket club membership cards and badges to the bat used by Garfield Sobers in 1968 when he smashed 6 sixes in an over – the first time this was achieved in a first class match, the cricket section offers many sensational items. The Australian Rules Football section features a fine range of early Carlton Membership cards, early examples from other clubs – we particularly like the Hotham 1883 piece, some exceptional Weg posters, original paintings of the Victorian Football grounds and a good range of the ever-popular collector cards. Our Rugby League section, though small, features the exceptionally rare 1914 Test Team jersey worn by the great Bill Kelly and the Union section features the unique pair of honour caps worn by Hugh Montgomerie Hamilton. The sale is rounded out by some delightful Olympic pieces, a great collection of signed tennis photographs and some horse racing artworks for good measure.
