Phillip transferred to the tender, Supply, on the outward journey, and placed Hunter in the Sirius in command of the main convoy. Eleven ships made it to Botany Bay within the three days, 18-20 January, 1788.On the 2nd of October 1788, Hunter sailed in the Sirius for Cape of Good Hope to lay in stocks of grain, and returned on the 8th of May 1789. In March 1790, under his command of Norfolk Island the Sirius was lost. Hunter was forced to stay on the Island for 11 months.
