The business grew rapidly and in 1896 he built larger premises for his workmen who made many of the goods on the premises to Bakers designs. Similar cutlery constructions of the emu and kangaroo trademark were a feature of his shops windows. Baker died at his residence Redlyn Abbey, Darling Point, in 1930 leaving an estate valued at over 60,000. His will directed that his widow Lucy and their children carry on the firm and in so doing, I expressly desire that no military weapons or weapons of war shall be dealt in, sold, repaired, or sharpened . and I make this direction in order to continue my protest against all war.
