Mason & Co. of Bridge Road, Richmond), depicting a group of men in front of the recruiting office under a banner which reads RICHMONDS 1st QUOTA of RECRUITS For Australias New Army of 50,000. The men are photographed with their recruiting officers and a young, uniformed mascot. Overall 24 x 29cm.In January 1916, the Army announced that it needed 50,00 men for the New Army, and 16,000 reinforcements per month. Anglo-Egyptian. The cargo ship was leased by the Australian Commonwealth between 1915 and 1917 and used as a troop transport.
