McKenzie, of Carstairs, Bathurst, New South Wales, and both started in December 1909.The first book features the signature of J.B. Chifley, accompanied by the adage, If all the world were a ring, You would be the diamond setting dated 19th December 1910. It therefore may not come as a surprise to learn that L.G. McKenzie (Elizabeth Lizzie Gibson) became Elizabeth Chifley, a few years later, in 1914.The other book also features a page signed and annotated by Ben Chifley (in June 1912), but as this autograph book had also been taken on a sea voyage back to England aboard R.M.S. Osterley, other notable signatures include Norman Lindsay (who also provided a charming watercolour), Lillie Langtry, and 23 signatures of the British Lions National Rugby League team that toured Australia and New Zealand in 1910.844 Accompanied by a small family bible and some later newspaper cuttings.839 PROVENANCEA carton containing a quantity of WW1 and WW2 ephemera. The Chifley family, by descent.Noted Record of Service Book, Demobilization Procedure$5001,000Book, dog-tags, propaganda leaflets, photographs, unit magazines, AIF forks and spoons, Army instruction booklets,847Ration cards, etc. Much of interest here.
